Germany has announced a $351 million initiative to supply Ukraine with thousands of long-range drones capable of striking Russian military targets. Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said the plan will strengthen Ukraine’s ability to counter Russian forces and disrupt operations deep behind the front lines.
The announcement came during the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting in London, where 56 countries and the European Union coordinated further military aid. Pistorius emphasized that the drone program would be developed in partnership with Ukraine’s defense industry to ensure faster delivery and sustainable support.
The United Kingdom also reaffirmed its commitment, pledging to finance the production of thousands of long-range drones for Ukraine. Defense Secretary John Healey noted that a UK-led international military fund has now surpassed £2 billion, providing ammunition, artillery shells, rockets, missiles, and electronic warfare systems to Kyiv. Healey stressed the urgency of accelerating supplies in response to intensified Russian attacks.
France likewise confirmed continued military support. Minister for European Affairs Benjamin Haddad stated that assistance for Ukraine remains a cross-party priority in Paris, adding that defense spending will remain protected and continue to increase despite political changes at home.
