Judge Stalls Deportation of Gang Leader as Feds Face Scrutiny Over Secretive Dismissal

Date:

A federal judge has blocked the deportation of an MS-13 leader after the Trump administration tried to dismiss serious terrorism charges under the veil of “foreign policy interests.”

Vladimir Arevalo-Chavez, believed to be a key insider in a covert 2019 deal between El Salvador’s president and MS-13, is at the center of what critics are calling an effort to erase testimony that could expose international wrongdoing.

His legal team is demanding transparency, arguing that dismissing such grave charges for diplomatic gain sets a dangerous precedent.
